Powder Coating
Powder coating is what we’ve specialised and excelled in over the past 35 years, which is what’s made us East Yorkshire’s longest established powder coating company.
What is Powder Coating?
Powder Coating is an environmentally friendly method of applying paint to achieve the perfect finish.
To apply a ‘wet’ paint, solvents are required to allow the paint to become a liquid, thus allowing it to be applied to the object. This solvent makes the paint sticky, causing it to adhere to the surface.
With powder coating, only the paint solids are sprayed onto the product, in an atomised powder form.
The powder is drawn to the product and adheres to the product due to an electrostatic charge applied to the powder as it passes through the spray equipment.
The product, fully and evenly covered with the powder paint is then heated in a gas convection or infra-red oven, wherein the powder fuses on to the product and thus forms a smooth, tough and resilient coating.
Powder coating is the most popular industrial method of applying a painted finish to all metals. It is used in an incredibly broad number of industries and applications from automotive to construction.
What are the benefits of Powder Coating?
High quality. Because the powder is fused onto the product, it has excellent scratch resistance properties. It also has a pleasing ‘smooth’ appearance and forms a sealed skin around the product, thus minimising corrosion risk. Powder Coating also leads the way in surface finishing technology from an environmental perspective, as it minimises waste and has very low toxicity levels.
