Pre Treatment

In 2016, we decided the time was right to increase our presence in the architectural aluminium sector through achieving approved applicator status.

Following significant investment in new pre-treatment plant and testing equipment, stringent auditing and close co-operation with our chemical and powder coating manufacturing partners, we gained approved architectural applicator status with both Axalta Powder Coatings and Jotun Powder Coatings, two huge names in the global coatings market.

During our 2020 expansion we invested again in our pre-treatment plant, with the addition of a larger hoist to give us a multiple-load, capacity increase, a further rinse stage and a new dry-off oven.

Last year we worked closely with Sherwin Williams through the same process. Since then we’ve also added them and their world-famous Syntha Pulvin architectural powder brand to the list of manufacturers we hold approved applicator status with.

Having these three huge, global companies supporting us with their architectural warranties is an indicator of our drive for continuous improvement moving forwards. There are also other, exciting developments in this area that we expect to announce through 2022.

Our six-stage, chromate pre-treatment system for architectural aluminium has been developed by long-established and well-renowned Pre-Treatment Technologies, with Qualicoat approval, and our use of it conforms to the requirements of BS EN 12206 – 1:2004 (BS 6496). With it, we can provide up to 25, 30 and 40 year warranties on aluminium projects processed through it, supported by the powder manufacturers above.
